Marukyu Koyamaen is one of Japan’s most prestigious tea manufacturers, founded in 1704 in Uji, Kyoto, the heart of Japanese tea culture. Family-owned for over 300 years, the company is known for preserving traditional tea cultivation and processing methods.Marukyu Koyamaen supplies top tea schools, temples, and shrines, and has earned numerous awards, including multiple first-place wins at Japan’s National Tea Competition. Their matcha is widely regarded as some of the finest in the country for both ceremony and everyday enjoyment.

Wakatake characterised by a perfect balance of richness and sweetness, with bright green color. Highly recommended for making daily matcha latte, premium grade sweets, whipping cream making, and also baking. 

How to Prepare

Sift 1–2 tsp of matcha into a bowl. Add 60–80 ml of hot water (80°C). Whisk in a zigzag motion until frothy. Enjoy it straight or add milk for a creamy matcha latte.

This matcha specifically can be transformed into such a delicious foam to put on top of milk and with ice cubes. If you couldn’t tell I absolutely love making matcha, especially the traditional way. I have bought Marukyu Koyamaen Wakatake matcha twice already in the past year, it lasts a good time, considering how many people I make it for while also making it for myself.
