Founded in 1875  Ryuoen Chaho  is one of Kyoto’s quiet but deeply respected tea houses. Unlike more commercial tea brands, Ryuoen Chaho has preserved a traditional, almost unchanged way of selling tea for over a century, a rare example of continuity in Japanese craftsmanship.

How to Prepare

Sift 1–2 tsp of matcha into a bowl. Add 60–80 ml of hot water (80°C). Whisk in a zigzag motion until frothy. Enjoy it straight or add milk for a creamy matcha latte.

Tasting Notes

Fresh, grassy, and vegetal, sometimes carrying subtle nutty or marine undertones depending on the batch or preparation style.
