Founded in 1875 Ryuoen Chaho is one of Kyoto’s quiet but deeply respected tea houses. This long established Japanese tea specialist is renowned for supplying matcha to the head families of the San Senke tea schools. Unlike more commercial tea brands, Ryuoen Chaho has preserved a traditional, almost unchanged way of selling tea for over a century, a rare example of continuity in Japanese craftsmanship.

Mujou is a refined matcha with a refreshing vegetal aroma and an exceptionally smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Rich umami meets an intense, lingering natural sweetness reminiscent of white chocolate. A delicate touch of bitterness adds complexity and depth to the finish.
Robiraki is a seasonal matcha released to celebrate the opening of the sunken hearth in November, marking the start of the winter tea season in Japan.
