Tango Tanimura - Exclusive Bamboo Matcha Whisk (Shin Chasen)

This chasen is handcrafted exclusively for Yusen Tea by Tango Tanimura and made to order chasen using traditional Takayama techniques.

Tango Tanimura is the 20th generation of one of Japan's most renowned chasen making families. For over 500 years, the Tanimura family has preserved the art of handcrafting bamboo whisks, with their chasen trusted by the Grand Masters of tea schools in Japan.

Tango Tanimura is also one of the only 16 or so remaining chasen masters in Japan. These whisks are made from locally grown bamboo in the small village of Takayama, famed as the only chasen making village in Japan. 

The Shin shape is one of the most popular chasen designs, featuring elegant curved tines that help create a smooth, creamy layer of foam when whisking matcha.

Before First Use

Before using for the first time, gently soak only the prongs in hot water. This softens the bamboo and helps prevent breakage. Avoid soaking the handle.

Care & Precautions

• Use gently—pressing firmly against the bottom of the tea bowl may cause the prongs to snap.
• Do not place in a dishwasher.
• After use, rinse with water and allow to dry completely before storing.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from humidity, extreme dryness, heat, and direct sunlight.
